Welcome to Part 4!
We have arrived at the last section of IU's 나의 옛날이야기. Has it been pretty easy to get through? I hope so! And hopefully, it has been a pretty easy listen, because of the lack of much background music and/or fast lyrics! Today, is probably going to be our shortest part EVER.
Have fun singing!
Let's get started!
Nouns 오늘 - today 밤 - night 내일 - tomorrow 그리고 - and 나 - me/I | Adverbs None! Grammar -ㅂ니다 | Verbs/Adj 영원하다 - to be forever/eternal 기다리다 - to wait 그 - that 다음 - next |
Lesson.
무정한 사람아 이 밤도 나의 모든 것을 앗으려 하나 철 없던 사람아 | 철없던 사람아 그대는 나의 모든 것을 앗으려 하나 무정한 사람아 |
Moving on to the completely new stuff...
Here we have a cluster of nouns. 오늘 [today], 밤 [night] - together means tonight. Attached to 밤 (both times) is the particle 도 which means even, or also. 내일 means tomorrow, so paired with night means tomorrow night. So, this sentence translates to: tonight too, and tomorrow night, too.
그리고 그 다음 밤도
그리고 means and. 그 [that] and 다음 [next] are both adjectives that are describing 밤 [night], 도 [too, also]. So this sentence translates to: and those next nights, too // the nights in the future.
영원히 난 기다립니다
영원히 is derived from the verb 영원하다 [to be eternal, forever], meaning forever, or eternally. 나 [me/I] + ㄴ [topic marker] marks ME as the topic of the sentence - AS FOR ME... 기다리다 means to wait, and the attached grammar structure is ㅂ니다 which is the most polite way of making a simple statement sentence. So, eternally/forever I am waiting. // forever, I wait.
Reading/Comprehension.
이 밤도 나의 모든 것을
앗으려 하나 철 없던 사람아
오늘 밤도 내일 밤도
그리고 그 다음 밤도
영원히 난 기다립니다
I hope you enjoyed IU's sweet voice and sweet song while learning lots and lots of new Korean words and phrases!

Any specific questions, suggestions, comments, and/or additions would be great! I would never mind to further explain a few points, add some other examples, or give some pointers, as well. Let's study together.
See you on next time!
