Welcome to Part 4!
Congratulations! You've made it!
Let's finish up strong with part 4, so you can say you understand the whole song! Please take your time; this is a study tool - most importantly have fun singing!
Let's get started.
Nouns 세상 - world 네 (니) - your (너의) 너 - you 앞 - front 누구 - who 그대 - you 단 하나 - just one 내일 - tomorrow 그 - that | adverbs 지금 - now 안 - inside 오직 - only/solely 보다 (conjunction) - than 와 (conjunction) - and grammar -만 - (verb stem)을/를 (future tense) | verbs/adj 던지다 - throw/fling 이뤄내다 - score/fulfill 살아가다 - live (on) 치열하게 - intensely/fiercely 먼저 - first 더 - more |
Lesson. 시작합시다.
(지금 세상 안에) Oh, 네 앞에
지금 means now, 세상 means world, and 안 is another way to say inside. The location particle -에 means to, in, or at (depending on the context). 지금 세상 안에 means now within/inside the world. 네 [니] means you (your), 앞에 means front, with the 에 location particle. 네 앞에 means in front of you. So, right now, in this world, in front of you!
(누구보다 먼저) 널 던져
누구 means who, 보다 means than, and 먼저 means first. 누구보다 먼저 literally means who than first. However, it can be better understood in English as "first, before anyone else." 널 is you [너] + object marker. You is the object of the verb 던지다 [to throw]. Throw what? You. So, 너(를) 던져 means to throw yourself!
(더 치열하게) 더 치열하게
Simple enough. 더 means more, and 치열하다 means to be intense/fierce. 치열하[게] is like adding -ly. So, more intensely/fiercely!
(Mr. Mr.) Mister
(오직 그대만이) 이뤄낼
오직 means only/solely. It seems like more of a tag word that is paired up with the grammar point -만 [also meaning only] to further emphasis the point - ONLY. 그대 means you, and only the grammar structure 만 is 이 which is a subject marker (remember: subject markers after consonants become 이 instead of 가). 이뤄내다 means to fulfill - it is turned into a descriptive verb with a future marker (-을). So, only YOU can fulfill (it is describing the next line).
(단 하나) 내일 앞의 너
Fulfill the one thing [단 하나]! 내일 means tomorrow and 앞 means front. It's kind of a weird translation, but it's like tomorrow's front, or the face of tomorrow. 의 is a possession marker. It's translated to tomorrow's YOU. So to plug it in to the sentence before, it means only YOU can fulfill that one thing - the YOU of tomorrow.
(그 안에 살아 갈 너와 나) Mister~ Oh~
그 means that, 안(에 - location marker) means inside. 그 안에 means inside that (inside that future/inside that tomorrow). 살아가다 means to live/to live on/to go on living. It is a compound verb of 살다 [to live] and 가다 [to go]. 너 means you, 나 means me, and 와 means you. So, 너와 나 means me and you. So roughly this sentence means: inside that, will live on you and me. // Inside that future/tomorrow, you and I will live on.
