Welcome to Part 1!
Today, we will be covering the first verse of the song! Quick FYI: This week, we won't get to the chorus until Friday (sorry guys~). As I'm trying to uplift everyone's spirits for finals, I'm also trying to uplift my own! So, I had to cut it into short pieces during the week. :) Either way, we'll get there!
Have fun singing!
Let's get started!
Nouns 한 (하나) - one 번 - time (like one time or once, not clock time) 두 (둘) - two 세 (셋) - three 너 - you 나 - me/I 와 - and or with (connecting nouns) 커플링 - couple ring 손 - hand 길 - street | Adverbs 함께 - together Grammar -면 -고 싶다 -고서 | Verbs 보다 - to see 안다 - to hold/cuddle/embrace 끼다 - to wear/put on (in this case) 걷다 - to walk 더 - more 이 - this |
Lesson.
한번 보면 두 번 더 보고 싶어
한 is derived from 하나 (한 is its descriptive form), which means one. 한 is describing 번 which can be described as time - so, one time or once. 보면 is made of of the verb 보다 [to see] and the grammar structure -면 which means -IF (verb). So, 한번 보면 is if I see you once/one time. 두 is also the descriptive version of 둘 which is two - 두 is describing 번 to translate to twice. 더 simply means more. 보고 싶어 is also made up of two parts - the verb again, 보다 [to see] and the grammar structure -고 싶다 which means to WANT to (verb). The ending 싶어 (from 싶다) is the present tense from. So, 한번 보면 "if I see you (or "it" technically; the subject and object are assumed) once," 두번 더 보고 싶어 "I want to see you twice more!"
두번 세번 보면 너를 더 안고 싶어
Here we have 두번 again, meaning twice. Also, we have 세번 which is derived from 셋 + 번 this time - thrice, or three times. 보 [to see] 면 [IF (verb)]. So, 두번 세번 보면 IF I see you twice or three times. Attached to 너 [you] is the object marker 를 - this marks YOU as the object of the verb to come. 더 [more, don't forget!]. 안고 싶어 (like 보고 싶어) is made up of the two parts: verb - 안다 to embrace/hug, and -고 싶다 again [to want to do VERB]. So, 두번 세번 보면 "if I see you twice or three times." 너를 더 안고 싶어 "I want to hug YOU (the object) more."
너와 커플링 커플링 손에 끼고서
너[you] is connected with 와 which means AND you or WITH you. 커플링 is literally couple ring, like it sounds! 손 means hands, and is connected to a location marker -에 which means in, at, or on. 끼고서 is made of the two parts: verb (끼다, which in this case means to wear/put on) and grammar structure (-고서). -고서 is made up of two grammar structures -고 which means AND when linking verbs/sentences together, and 서 which is a way to link verbs/sentences together with SO, or AND then (later stating an action that comes after the first action). Together, you can simply view it as meaning "AND THEN." So, this sentence can be roughly translated to "with you, wearing couple rings on our hands AND THEN...(next sentence)."
함께 이 길을 걷고 싶어 난
함께 means together. 이 is an adjective meaning "this." So, THIS 길 [street]. Attached to street is the object marker, it becomes the object of the verb to come - 걷다 [to walk]. So, together we walk what? This street. Attached to the verb stem of -걷다 (걷) is again, the grammar structure -고 싶다. So, to WANT to walk this street together. This is technically the end of the sentence, but for clarification, the word 난 is added. 나 means me, and -은 is added to mark me/I as the topic of the sentence. So who wants to walk this street together? Me!

Any specific questions, suggestions, comments, and/or additions would be great! I would never mind to further explain a few points, add some other examples, or give some pointers, as well. Let's study together.
See you on Wednesday for Part 2!
