And we're off to another hot-spot in our Travel Korea experience! This week is a little different because we have a good friend of ours (that we meet while studying abroad) writing about a fun hot-spot in Korea. So without dragging this on, let's have fun with Nkaozoua (Zoey) Her in Lotte World!
Hello Kpop to K-Talkers. I’m Zoey from Minnesota and I studied in Korea with Bria and Alba at Korea University. For last week’s Travel Korea, you traveled to 가오가 (Kaoga), the treasure of 안암 (Anam). A great place to get a drink, or five, catch up with old friends or meet new ones, and eat amazing food. If you are not into these kinds of activities, there are many more activities in Korea, which do not include drinking.
For this week’s Travel Korea, we’ll travel to the well-known amusement park 롯데월드 (Lotte World); tons of fun for families, couples, and friends. I love to go on rides; especially roller coasters and feel the thrill the ride give you. This is a great place to go to if you’re looking for a fun, thrilling get away for your friends and family.

If you don’t know already, 롯데월드 is an amusement park located in Seoul and famous for its use in dramas, movies, and music videos. It’s both an indoor and outdoor park, so it’s great to go during any kind of weather or season. One really cool thing about 롯데월드 is their indoor skating rink. There aren't many amusement parks which have an ice skating rink open all year. Like many amusement parks, there are roller coasters. There are some great roller coasters and some not so awesome. There is a train that takes you around the park, both outside and inside, but if you are scared of heights, I suggest not going on it. If you aren’t a big fan of rides, they have a Trick Eye Museum where you can take pictures with real life-looking landscapes and this is always fun to do with friends. There is also an aquarium there, which I’ve never been too, but it looks cool! |
The main reason I wanted to go to 롯데월드 was for the castle (picture at the top of the page). Do any of you know DBSK’s song Magic Castle? Yeah, that was the castle in the music video. As a big Kpop fan, I’ve always wanted a picture in front of the castle. That was my mission, and it was accomplished!
I will be honest; there are a lot of couples here. It’s easy to tell because a lot of couples wear couple outfits (matching headbands, hats, sweaters, backpack, etc.). It’s unusual to see someone come here alone, so I suggest going with at least one other person.
롯데월드 is really easy to get to. Take line 2 or 8 and it’s exit 4 of 잠실 (Jamsil) station. You will pass a bunch of stores before getting to the front desk. The cost is about 46,000 원 per person, but when you go with a group or certain times, it will be cheaper. The price for the aquarium is about 30,000 원, but it may depend on events and such. If you want to know more about롯데월드, prices, directions, and more, I highly suggest to visit the site. There is a translated page for everything, which makes it convenient for travelers.

So, make it a plan to go to롯데월드. It will be fun with friends and family, and you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. If you have gone before, what was it like for you? Did you enjoy it and what did you like most about it? Did you have a mission like me? Share your experience below and feel free to ask more about mine. Until next time~ |
We just want to thank our dear friend Zoey for writing about this hot-spot she went to while we we're studying abroad! It really means a lot to us hearing about everyone's experiences and favorite hotspots. So, we want to encourage everyone to send us submissions of your favorite place if you're there now or if you traveled before. Until our next stop!
