Hello everyone! We're back with our next Travel Korea hot-spot; one, which will be super useful to you guys (at least I think so!). When people plan their trips to South Korea, a lot of money is put into everything. You have to buy your ticket, you have to buy essentials, you have to pay for any extra luggage or if it's overweight-- overall, a lot of money is being put for you to JUST go. Don't get me started on how much you'll spend there. But, this next hot-spot will definitely cut down some costs. Let's go check out 한솥 (Hansot)!
한솥 is a chain restaurant located in different parts of 서울 (Seoul). The reason why I wanted to bring up this restaurant is because it is THE BEST MONEY SAVER. I'm serious. Just to give you a run down on the prices: the most expensive thing I saw on the menu was about 20,000원. Now, what I usually got on the daily was the 치킨도시락 (Chicken lunch box) which only cost
2,500원 . That's $2.50 more or less. FOR A FULL MEAL! It's amazing. The food is really good for it to be so cheap! So, the overall menu of 한솥 is a kind of lunch box/ home cooked theme. You can get the 치킨도시락 (chicken lunch box), 돈까스도시락 (pork lunch box), even 김치찌깨 (kimchi stew). They had a wide variety of options to choose from with great prices attached! No wonder why I went there pretty much everyday. The picture to the right is showing a sample of the menu with reduced prices (probably for some sort of promotion or holiday at that time). The crossed out prices are the original-- all of them were under 5,000 원! 한솥 is definitely the restaurant you want to go to when you're trying to save money. |
Most 한솥's are really small. Mostly you have the order area in the back of the store and then a few tables for people to sit at. Like any other store, they have some promotion posters on their front doors so people can see the other options. The restaurant is cute and quaint, and the workers were super friendly. There was a 한솥 by Korea University (really there were two, but I'm talking about the one that's on the way to the dorms). Either way! The nicest elderly woman worked there and I swear, every meal felt like a home cooked meal coming from her. She was very sweet and always took care of every time I went. |
In all, when you go to South Korea and you're tight on money, definitely try going to 한솥! Best way to get cheap food quickly! The most likely place you can find 한솥's are around Universities and in very crowded areas (in terms of stores). Definitely check it out and save a few bucks when you're there!
If any of you guys have gone, what were your experiences? Did you like it as much as we did? We hope you did! And for those travelling or planning on going, stop by! You won't regret it we promise~
